About the App
Soundfruuze is an experimental live sampler designed for audio enthusiasts and creators. This unique app lets you record the last 10 seconds of audio in real time. You can then manipulate this sound using an intuitive interface divided into five lanes. Each lane responds to your touch and can be set to apply different effects.
The first lane is the Scratch lane. It’s a basic playback type that allows you to control volume and position interpolation. By adjusting the smoothness, you can produce sounds with varying high-frequency tones.
Next is the Speed lane. This lane also represents a basic playback type, starting from the position you touch. You can adjust playback speed with a vertical touch position, making it easy to explore sound variations.
Then we have the Granular Freeze lane. This lane allows for granular playback by letting you select specific sound positions. You can control both the volume and playback speed (or pitch), as well as grain size control. The horizontal and vertical coordinates of your touch act as two independent parameters.
Similar to Granular Freeze is the Granular Scrub lane. It gives you the ability to change the position of the grain after playback has started. This makes sound manipulation more dynamic and engaging.
The Granular Stream lane enables granular playback with randomized parameters. You can randomize the grain position, speed, and size within a chosen range. The special 2D slider control allows you to modify two parameters for each touch independently, offering even more creative options.
For those interested in FFT effects, the app includes both FFT Freeze and FFT Scrub lanes. In these lanes, sound is processed using the FFT transform and divided into frames. The FFT Freeze lane lets you select a frame at a specific sample position, effectively freezing the sound at that moment.
Soundfruuze also features a Looper lane, where you can create loops or repeat large grains of sound. When you touch a Looper lane, a new looper control is generated. You can adjust the loop speed, volume, size, and position for each loop on that lane, or even control all the loops together.
The FFT Looper works similarly to the basic Looper but has the added benefit of allowing a playback speed adjustment while maintaining the original pitch. It utilizes the FFT algorithm to ensure constant pitch, even as you change the speed.
Each lane in Soundfruuze has additional effects to enhance your sound. You can use a frequency shifter effect, a ring modulation effect, a sample-and-hold effect for a lo-fi feel, an HP/LP filter effect, and a reverb effect. These effects control parameters allow for extensive audio manipulation.
With Soundfruuze, anyone can dive into the world of audio creation. Whether you are a musician, a sound designer, or just someone who enjoys experimenting with sounds, this app provides a fun and versatile platform for your auditory explorations. It is truly a one-of-a-kind tool in the realm of experimental audio apps, combining live sampling, looping sound, and advanced sound manipulation techniques into one easy-to-use package.
