Rock Drum Machine: Real Drums is like having a rock drummer right in your pocket. Instead of looping a recording, it plays like a real drummer. This means you’ll hear ghost notes, open hi-hats, and fills that change every time you use it. It’s perfect for practicing, writing songs, and even playing live. The drums feel alive and full of energy.

You can start for free. Just download the app and access everything for 7 days. After that, you can unlock the full version with a one-time purchase—no subscription needed. If you already own Rock Drum Machine, you will still have full access. There’s nothing to buy again.

With Rock Drum Machine, you get a jamming drummer at your fingertips. You can adjust the jam and intensity level. This lets you go from a steady beat to a busy, improvising drummer. The fills are of variable lengths, just like a real drummer would play, including triplet fills and double bass drum patterns. You can choose to have automatic fills every few bars, or you can play them yourself if you want more control. The humanization feature lets you adjust the feel of the beat, making it sound perfect or a bit “drunk” for a fun vibe.

The app offers a wide range of rock styles, from classic to odd time signatures. With 114 unique grooves and 70 fills spread across six banks, you can explore rock, grunge rhythms, funk rock grooves, shuffle, progressive beats, and even odd time signatures. You'll find 65 real drum sounds, most recorded in dynamic layers, including ghost, normal, and accent sounds. There are 25 factory kits to choose from, as well as two round-robin kits called Stage RR and Vintage RR. You can also create your own grooves in the app’s edit mode and patterns mode, and save them in your personalized banks.

Rock Drum Machine is designed for practice, writing, and performance. In song mode, you can chain grooves and fills to create full songs easily. You have 8 live pads that let you switch between grooves and fire fills on the fly, complete with a countdown timer to know when the change will happen. When using an iPhone, the portrait layout makes it easy to place on your music stand. There’s a mixer available, allowing you to adjust the volume, pan, and reverb for every drum.

You also have four effects to enhance your performance: a compressor effect, equalizer effect, delay effect, and reverb effect. The app supports external keyboard use, allowing you to play and stop with the space bar and trigger fills with the enter key.

In your studio, Rock Drum Machine serves as an auV3 plug-in and offers a MIDI-only plug-in to control other drum instruments. You can use the app as a MIDI sampler, playing the kit from your pads or keyboard. The MIDI setup includes features like independent MIDI Clock in and out, MIDI-controllable tempo, and shareable maps for easy groove management. You can send and receive grooves and live pad sets to collaborate with other Lumbeat drummers and iBassist.

If you want to share a groove or a song, you can easily do it via AirDrop, Mail, or Files. The app allows you to export full audio, multitrack stems, and MIDI data. Plus, you can use Ableton Link and MIDI Clock sync for seamless integration with other tools.

For those looking for even more variety, there are additional drummers available for separate in-app purchases. Mike brings a progressive rock style with heavier, metal-style fills, while John adds a classic rock flair. Each comes with their unique kit but is not included in the full version.

Rock Drum Machine: Real Drums requires iOS 16 or later to run smoothly. Whether you need a music practice tool, a song writing app, or live performance support, this app covers all your drumming needs.
