LoopBud is an easy-to-use yet powerful MIDI recorder and looper. It allows you to work with unlimited patterns, giving you the freedom to explore your creativity. While 4-bar loops are a lot of fun, you can also create patterns with an unlimited number of bars.

This app has two recording modes: Add mode and New mode. In Add mode, you can keep adding new notes on each loop cycle. If you want to start fresh, New mode clears out the previous recording, allowing you to record freshly on each cycle. You can work quickly with both modes. If you make a mistake, there’s no need to worry—the undo option will help you recover your previous work effortlessly.

LoopBud has quantization enabled by default, which helps keep your notes in rhythm. You can toggle quantizing anytime by pressing the quantize button in the settings menu. Also, you can set the level of quantization to suit your needs.

For more control over your recordings, you can speed up or slow down the clock by tapping the clock button on the top-left side. This feature allows you to achieve different effects during your live performances without needing to make a new recording.

LoopBud also lets you focus on a single bar with its unique feature for single bar recording. You can easily loop or record just one bar for more precise musical sections.

In the settings menu, you'll find options to edit the piano roll’s lowest and highest notes. While the notes on the piano roll itself can't be edited, you can export MIDI directly from the settings menu. This lets you do further editing in your favorite piano roll editor app.

Keep in mind that LoopBud is a MIDI app, not an audio app. To use it, you need to connect a MIDI input and MIDI output, which you can set up in the standalone app's settings menu. If you're using the AUv3 plugin, you can also access the MIDI matrix editor through your digital audio workstation (DAW). LoopBud supports Ableton Link, making it easy to sync with other music apps when using the standalone version.
