Jordan Rudess, the well-known keyboardist for Dream Theater, praises ThumbJam for its outstanding quality. He says the sounds rival those of professional instruments, making music on ThumbJam a pleasurable experience. His collaboration with the developers has added unique sounds and great ideas to the app.

One of the great things about ThumbJam is that even if you've never played an instrument before—maybe you’ve only strummed air guitar—you can still sound like a pro. Choose from a variety of instruments, and with a comprehensive scales library, you'll never hit a wrong note. The high-quality instrument samples ensure you sound fantastic, making it feel like you’ve skipped years of music lessons.

For the performing musician, ThumbJam shines as an incredible tool for soloing on instruments you might not have with you. You can play in any key and any style, whether you want a string ensemble sound or a wailing Electric Guitar solo. This app is designed by musicians, so it feels and sounds like a real instrument, offering very expressive results that you might not expect from a mobile app.

To enhance your playing experience, ThumbJam incorporates tilt and shake control. These features allow you to add vibrato, tremolo, note bends, and volume swells, creating more realistic sound effects. You can use up to five simultaneous touches, or eleven on an iPad, along with support for high polyphony, allowing you to play up to 32 notes at once for any of the eight loaded instruments.

If you're keen on loop building, ThumbJam allows you to create your own loops or import your favorites. You can layer as many loops as you want, using different instruments for added creativity. Audio file exporting is easy too, and you can share your creations through WiFi, email, or even other apps using AudioCopy/Paste support.

The app also fully supports MIDI input and output over WiFi or Bluetooth, and works well with CoreMidi compatible devices for a seamless experience. You can sync your apps using Ableton Link support, or enjoy real-time streaming with Audiobus integration and InterApp Audio support, ensuring everything works smoothly together.

One of the standout features of ThumbJam is the powerful arpeggiator feature. This lets you play musical patterns in perfect time sync, whether you’re using the on-screen interface or sending MIDI controls.

With a huge variety of scales available, including western and eastern scales, you can save your favorite scales for quick access or even create custom scales. If you need specific scales, the Scala format import offers complete flexibility.

Moreover, you can record your own multi-sampled instruments using either a built-in or attached microphone, or from file import, making the app great for musicians who want to capture their unique sounds.

Included in ThumbJam are instruments such as Cello, Electric Guitar, Trumpet, and Drawbar Organ, among many others. There are also numerous free sound downloads available in the app, including various drumkits, basses, and more.

With ThumbJam, you can hit notes confidently and explore a world of music creation without the complexities often associated with traditional music tools. Whether you're a beginner eager to learn or a seasoned musician looking for a versatile app, ThumbJam has something to offer everyone.
