Spectryx is a unique spectral harmonic synthesizer that doubles as an interactive art piece. When you open the app, you’ll find the entire screen transformed into a hand-drawn instrument that you play using your fingers.

With Spectryx, you can explore seven distinct synthesis engines. Each engine can create up to 64 harmonics, and you can slide along the morph strip to change the sound in real time. For example, additive synthesis offers a pure and glassy sound, while wavetable synthesis lets you scan oscillators that respond with a lively unison motion. Formant synthesis shapes vowel and vocal tones based on your own unique spectrum, and Karplus-Strong synthesis provides the sound of real strings, whether plucked or bowed. FM synthesis generates bright and metallic timbres, whereas ring modulation creates interesting clangorous tones. Finally, chaos synthesis introduces a pitch-synced effect that blends into noise, bringing a sense of unpredictability to your music.

Playing Spectryx is intuitive. The interface features a LinnStrument-style grid with twelve columns and ten rows, tuned in fourths. You can use up to four fingers at the same time, with each finger producing its own voice. There are no buttons to press or search for; the Engine Cortex responds to every touch with light and particles, inviting you to play freely.

One of the standout features of Spectryx is the Harmonic Sigil Globe. This geodesic sphere of harmonics allows you to sculpt sounds directly with your fingers. You can drag, paint, and reset to shape the spectrum into whatever you desire to hear, making sound sculpting easy and enjoyable.

The app also comes with twelve experimental effects, arranged in a dodecagon menu. Each custom DSP effect is a small world in itself, including cavernous reverbs, fractal delays, phantom patterns, frequency shifters, and bit-crushed decay, among others. Each effect has three controls, all designed to inspire exploratory sound design.

Another exciting aspect of Spectryx is the celestial Euclidean sequencer, along with a step sequencer that features its own electronic percussion engine. This visualizer looks like a field of stars and orbiting bodies, allowing you to build and randomize evolving rhythms effortlessly. You can incorporate these rhythms straight into your performances.

Recording and looping your music is simple with Spectryx. You can capture every fader, knob, and gesture instantly. This performance automation means that what you create can loop and continuously grow, giving you endless possibilities for composition.

Importantly, Spectryx is an offline music application. There are no ads, no accounts to create, and no tracking involved. Everything you create stays on your device, keeping your work private by design.
